Travel
By Air
There are a large number of
airlines offering flights to the region - many at very
reasonable prices. The nearest airports are Porto (one hour) and
Santiago de Compostela in Spain (one and a half hours) and Vigo
(25 minutes). The flight from the UK is less than 2 hours.
It is also possible to fly to
Lisbon with many airlines, including Monarch from the UK. It
will be necessary though to hire a car and drive 4 hours in each
direction if you choose this route.
By Ferry
An alternative is a mini-cruise on a ferry.
P&O Ferries sail twice weekly from Portsmouth to Bilbao.
Brittany Ferries also sail twice weekly between March and
November from Plymouth to Santander. Their ship, Pont-Aven, cuts
the Plymouth to Santander crossing time down to 18 hours.
Spanish Ferry operator Aciona Trasmediterranea, has a ferry
service between Portsmouth and Bilbao. They sail every 3 days in
high season, and twice weekly in low season.
The drive to Yavanna is
about 8 hours.
