Local Arts and Crafts

Locally, we have an amazingly creative group of artists and craftsmen: painters, recycling artists, wood turners, etc.

We can organise very interesting trips to their homes/studios to see them at work and have the opportunity to meet them and to discuss their work. You may also purchase their work, or commission work, should you wish to.

Robin Bovey

Robin is a biologist by training and has spent many years working in the environmental conservation field in the UK and since 1984, in Canada.

For the last fifteen years, he has devoted a lot of energy to humanitarian work in places such as Afghanistan, Kosovo, Darfur and East Timor. He taught himself to turn while he was living in Mozambique eight years ago and his workshop (www.logs2art.eu) is adjacent to Gallery Covas (www.gallerycovas.com) in the village of Covas. Robin's work has been bought by collectors from countries in Europe, southern Africa as well as from Canada and the USA. His pieces have been in exhibitions and on display in Mozambique, South Africa and Iceland and is for sale in the Gallery. He likes to work with local woods - windblown timber, wood that would have been used for firewood or sustainably harvested timber.
