Accommodation for Experience Weeks
Yavanna is made up
of three granite houses, converted from 300 year old farm buildings.
From these ruins a local architect,
Matthew Salt (www.salt-arq.com), has created this delightful holiday retreat in a
traditional Portuguese style, with modern comforts. Mark and Eunice
stay in one of the houses during courses, and as the
heart of the property, it provides the main dining and communal areas
for the experience weeks.
The
Guest Accommodation
Sleeping up to 11, in one house, Casa
Gabriel, there are 4 large bedrooms
and one smaller double room, all with en-suite shower rooms.
Some of these rooms have twin beds and
others doubles.
In the second house, Casa Dolinda, there
are three bedrooms, a bathroom, a shower room and a separate
toilet.
Each house has a living room with 32" flat
screen TV, satellite stations, and DVD player, a newly
refurbished kitchen and its own veranda and separate garden area.
We are
also able to use very nice local accommodation if required as an
overflow.
The Studio
Converted from an ancient barn, there is a fully equipped
ceramics studio, which also converts into a workspace for retreats, seminars and
workshops.
Swimming Pool
There is a 12x6 metre (salt) pool available. There is
a walkway to the pool past the studio from the guest house.
Surrounding the pool is a shady pergola and shower, as well as a yoga
and exercise area.
Facilities
Great care has been taking to ensure bedrooms and bathrooms are of a
good quality, with comfortable mattresses, etc.
There is a fully equipped kitchen, separate laundry, comfortable living
room with satellite, DVD and flat screen TV.
Massages, mountain biking, horse riding, canoeing, etc. can
all be arranged at extra cost.
Garden
There is a peaceful garden with secret corners, an
ancient working well and quiet
areas. Grapevines, lemon, olive and orange trees provide the perfect shade on a hot
day. Yavanna overlooks rural farmland, small hamlets with the
Minho hills in the background.

Smoking
We have a "no smoking" policy in all rooms throughout
Yavanna.
